If you follow me on instagram, you know I've been exploring hand weaving a bit. I saw one too many in my feed and couldn't resist any longer. It's just how my brain works, certain times I see a creative inspiration and I feel a huge desire to play along too. And since I already had yarn from the crochet blanket project on hand...
I was off. I have only done one other hand weaving experiment before, this one, (shocked to find it was a year ago!!!) and found Rachel to be a huge inspiration for this go round as well.
I was also inspired by this hand weaving post, which had links to this etsy hand weaving tutorial which is how I did the smaller, wonkier weavings like this:
and this:
Easy crafting at the end of the day...although with all the mistakes, I should probably pay a little better attention, ha!
For the two cleaner weavings, shown above, I used this loom kit by Martha Stewart. Obviously, it helped improve the result. I've got a lot to learn and I don't mind that one bit. Just the opposite actually, a lot to learn means a lot of playtime and creative exploration.
I've also got a long way to go if I want to have a summer shutter "installation". Maybe I will, maybe I won't...I rarely have a plan about such things, they either come to be or they don't. I'm just enjoying being at the beginning of a creative learning curve.
Of course I'm enjoying the color variations and choosing different palettes too:
Just today, I found this hand weaving blog and am very excited for new posts. I laughed when I read this post. Yep, that's me, one look at this pinterest board of mine leaves no doubt.
Let the weaver fever continue I say!
