Thank you so much for all the enthusiasm for my modern quilt!!! I don't think I've gotten as many comments since the blog days of yore ;). I so love it that a heartfelt creation struck a chord! It was such a labor of love (even the blog post about it exhausted me, haha), and I'm still so pleased I did it, and am still enjoyng looking at it completed. But I especially love seeing it in use like above- my daughter using it the other day. That's why I did it.
And that star light on the table behind her? That's one of my Dad's most recent light designs. Isn't it awesome?!?
We're working on getting enough of the arrows, stars, hearts and a red cross /plus sign design in production (he makes each and every one by hand) to be able to offer them here. We're also trying to figure out the shipping too...hopefully soon!
In other news, I've started something new this week; drinking warm water with fresh squeezed lemon in it, first thing every morning. It's new to me, although it sounds like lots of people do it, now that I'm paying attention. It started for me when on a catch up phone call with Kaari the other day. I was still sounding terribly sick and she told me how she came upon it, and that she believes it to make a positive health impact. I have never liked coffee, my version of morning coffee is to start each day with a diet Pepsi which I know is NOT healthy at all. I drink them throughout the day, hoping that they'll give me the needed boost of caffeine energy, but of course, they don't, since I'm accustomed to them. Instead, I'm just addicted and will get a terrible headache if I skip it for too long. I've tried to quit before, trust me, it's a bad habit of mine. When I mentioned this all on instagram, there were many helpful comments. Also, another friend, Lesley Riley, mentioned that she quit diet Pepsi herself by using the Mio drops with caffeine (looks like some Mio flavors have caffeine, some don't) in her water, so I'm going to try that too. I'm wanting to go from drinking it first thing in the morning and throughout the day to occasionally. Wish me luck! :/
I even brought the good 'ol Pottery Barn hand juicer out on the counter to stay. Luckily, we have lemons in the backyard...nothing like making it simple to help me create a new habit!
See the island on the left there? Do you remember it from way back when?
I was re-organizing it the other day and took this ig:
It's still one of my favorite fixer upper flea market finds ever.
And also seen in the kitchen picture, that blurry thing in the far right front corner?
Yep, my daughter and I made an apple pie today. Just because. I do wish I could share a piece with you, it's delicious if I do say so myself. We use Martha's recipe.
So enjoying having our Ali girl home for spring break and bummed it's nearly over.
I'm trying to catch up from being sick. Would you believe I'm still not 100%? Crazy, I tell ya, crazy! But I'm nearly there now. Right before I got sick, I had taught, and today, nearly 2 weeks later, some of my journals I brought to share are still in the hall waiting patiently to be put away:
Cleaning almost always takes a second seat to creating or other living here. It usually takes company coming to get moved to top slot.
Who wants to clean when it's Friday and looks like this outside? Not me, thank you very much! What is it Scarlett O'Hara always said? "After all, tomorrow is another day"? I agree with her.
Happy Friday out there, hope you're enjoying it! xo
