On a recent post Tracy left a comment saying, "You know what I love about your work? Your happy abandon. At least that is how it appears to me. You go where your fingers and heart lead."
I loved that comment. It's absolutely true for me, I do go where my fingers and heart lead, often for no reason other than they want to, and I do approach it with happy abandon. I'm glad it comes through as such on the blog. I am truly, madly, deeply in love with the act of creating. Sometimes that happy abandon might be a little too much and need a little reigning in, with a focus on finishing. (Maybe another day...)
This morning I was looking around taking a little inventory of current creative projects:
Project Life catch up includes putting together a final spread for part one of the year and an opening page for the second binder which will hold July- December.
The lap quilt I've been making for Charlotte has been needing a binding for waaaayyyy too long. Some phases of certain projects I dread and need to learn to force myself through to the finish!
Same goes for the quilt I've been making for our family/my son. I decided to hand quilt it long ago and when summer hit it was just too hot to sit with it on my lap and enjoy working on it. Maybe when the weather cools down in So Cal. (Is that ever going to happen? Feels like not these days.)
Then there's the recently thrifted quilt that needs repairs and a few squares replaced. Thought I'd pick which fabrics I'll use from my stash...playing with colors is so fun.
Of course, there's the Spain travel journal that was supposed to stay on the top of the list long ago.
Always journaling, and recently, I've had a few reasons to be going through more than just the current journal.
Making more diamonds for the folly project I started last week.
Or was that 2 weeks ago? Either way, still painting them too...
Some small paintings...
and large paintings in progress.
Gelli plate prints from the weekend drying still.
And some handstitching I was working on while savoring the very last Breaking Bad episode ever. Man, it broke oh so well.
But today, so far, it's not looking like I'm going to get back to any of it. The water heater in the garage sprung a leak sometime last night. That's been a not so fun and not at all creative project this morning. And for some reason my son has a school holiday, so we'll be spending some time doing something other than the water heater clean up ( how convenient for me that he's home to help with that!), and Etsy orders and a run to the post office still on the must do list. But hey, as soon as I can, you know I'll be back at it!
Hope you're getting to do something creative today!! Enjoy it for me too!
