All I've wanted to do lately is climb back into bed. But no, there has been no time for that. We have been working so hard getting 16 years worth of ideas/ needs/ desires wrapped up to put our home on the market.
With our daughter heading off to high school this year (today, actually), we decided that time with the kids is too precious right now for us to focus on a big remodel. Just thinking about how long it takes (and of course, the old adage: twice as long and twice as expensive as you think) to remodel/build made the decision. We've decided to sell our home.
I know, I know, it's a horrible market to be a seller in, but, on the other hand, it's a great market to be a buyer in, so we're gonna give it a go.
To be a successfull seller in a buyers market, we think everything has to be as perfect as we can get it. Repainting inside and out, new carpet, re-grouting, windows washed, new counter tops on, new hardware, switching out lighting etc. etc. etc. Some of the worst of it though, has been cleaning up/packing up 16 years of stuff. Like most, we have too much...especially me in the art studio. Unfortunately, since we were in a race to get it on before summer was over, I didn't have time to sort yet, that will have to happen at the other end of the move. Let's just say, I should have lots and lots for sale at the next Paris to the Moon sale. Looking forward to a fresh start. Here's hoping for a speedy sale/purchase/move.
Having to leave the house spotless every day has been good for me. I have never had a problem working on something until the last minute and walking away from the mess onto another priority. Cleaning up my mess (and the mess of others) is not my gift, to say the least. Since it's clean, I thought I'd show you some shots of the house. Will take more soon. It's a bit of a bummer showing you now, because much of "me", or our homes personality is packed up to move. Things that are fragile, funky, or special are packed away, most of them are my favorite things. It should be fun to add them and the personality they bring to a new home. So here's some shots:
the master bedroom:
our daughter's room (which you've seen before in part here, and a close up corner here)
our son's room: (again, you've seen some of it before here and even a bit here if you scroll down)
and the current state of the art room, with almost nothing in it. We had to move everything out for the new carpet, so a lot of furniture (like these drawers) ended up in the garage.
more house photos soon!
